旅行英語・英会話フレーズ～乗り物編～電車、飛行機内

今回は、海外に行く際、行った際にほぼ必ずと言っていいほど利用する電車や飛行機内で利用する英語についてご紹介します。利用頻度の非常に高いものですのでしっかり覚えて、使いこなせるようになっておきましょう。

電車で使う英会話

現地で電車を乗りこなせると、行動範囲がグンっと広がります。欧米を中心にチケットの買い方や座席指定など日本とは異なったシステムを採用している国が多いので、しっかり把握しておきましょう。

最寄駅を探す

(最寄駅はどこですか?)

□Is there a train station nearby?
(この辺りに駅はありますか?)

アメリカでは「subway」、イギリスでは「the tube」「the underground」です。
基本的に、subwayといえばどこでも通じると思います。特にイギリスではアメリカの言い回しは結構浸透しているので、そこまで心配する必要はありません。

切符の購入

メトロカードを使う

□Where can I get a metro card?
(メトロカードはどこで買えますか?)

(メトロカードにチャージできますか?)

チャージするはいろんな言い方があります。
「recharge」や「charge」には日本人が苦手な「R」があるので、それ以外の言い方がオススメです。

□Can I put 5 dollars on my metro card?
(メトロカードに5ドルチャージしてください)

□I would like to top up my metro card.
(メトロカードにチャージしたいのですが)

□I would like to load 10 dollars on my metro card.
(メトロカードに10ドルチャージしたいのですが)

(この辺りに両替機はありますか?)

(両替しなければいけません)

metro card = bus pass。
メトロカードは必要に応じてチャージして使うカードのことで、SuicaなどのICカードみたいなものです。

路線図をもらう

□Can I get a subway map?
(地下鉄の地図をもらえますか?)

□Can I have a subway timetable?
(地下鉄の時刻表をもらえますか?)

予約について聞く

□Do we need to book?
(予約は必要ですか?)

割引について

(学割はありますか?)

割引対象に合わせてfor~の後は入れ替えます。国によって割引対象が異なる場合があるので、事前にチェックしておきましょう。

senior citizens :シニア
the unemployed :失業者
children:子供
reduced ticket = 割引切符

寝台車について

■The train leaves from track 4.
(電車は4番線から出発します)

「mind the gap」はイギリスの独特な言い方です。
ロンドン地下鉄に行くとアナウンスが流れています。

platform=路線、platform~=~番線
platformとtrackは同じ意味です。

列車を待つ

■The train was delayed because of the snow.
(雪のため電車は遅れています)

周辺の人に行き方を聞く

□How do I get to New York station?
(ニューヨーク駅までの行き方を教えてください)

□How many stops is that from here?
(ここから何駅ありますか?)

■First, take the number 5 train going to A station and get off B station to change the C line.
(まずA駅行きの5番電車に乗って、B駅で降りて、C線に乗り換えてください)

■From there, take the D line and get off at E station.
(そこからD線に乗って、E駅で下車です)

□Does the express train pass through this station?
(急行列車はこの駅を通過しますか?)

□Do I have to set my phone to silent mode on the train?
(電車内での携帯電話はサイレントモードでしょうか?)

列車内にて

□Do you have a time table?
(時刻表はありますか?)

□Do you have wi-fi on the train?
(列車内にWi-Fiはありますか?)

□Do you have sockets/outlets on the train?
(列車内にコンセントはありますか?)

□Do you have the restroom on the train?
(列車内にトイレはありますか?)

(ここは優先座席ですか?)

基本的に降車後は乗車券は必要ないですが、念のため駅を出るまでは持っておきましょう。

友人と駅で待ち合わせ

□■Let’s meet up at ABC station at 6 pm.
(6時にABC駅で会いましょう)

□How can I get there?
(どうやって行けばいいですか?)

■You’ll take the green line and get off at ABC station.
(グリーン線に乗って、ABC駅で降りてください)

■You can go to the station directly from where you live.
(あなたが住んでいる場所から直通電車で行けますよ)

□■Let’s meet at the east exit. I think it’ll be easier to find each other.
(西出口で会いましょう。お互い見つけやすいと思います)

□■I’ll pick you up there.
(そこまで迎に行きます)

(では、そこでお会いしましょう)

(もし見つけられなかったら、電話ください)

□■I don’t have the internet.
(インターネットが使えません)

□■There’s many free wi-fi inside the station so you can use it.
(駅構内にはたくさんの無料Wi-Fiがあるので、使ってみてください)

□■We’ll be there at 6:20pm. Will you pick us up then?
(6時20分に到着します。迎えに来てくれますか?)

□Could you give us a ride home?
(家まで車で送ってもらえますか?)

□■I’ll see you outside of the ticket gate.
(改札口の外でお会いしましょう)

(改札口の中でお会いしましょう)

(電車に乗り遅れました)

列車に関する英単語

local train=普通列車
express train=急行列車
limited train=特急列車

sleeping car=寝台車
reserved=予約
non-reserved=予約なし
conductor=運転手
passenger=乗客

street car(tram)=路面電車
night train=夜行列車
seven-car train=7両編成の電車
up train=上り電車
down train=下り電車
commuter train=通勤電車
unmanned train=無人運転列車
buffet car=食堂車
carriage=客車
stopping service =運休

morning peak=朝ラッシュ時間(帯)
peak hours (rush hour) =ラッシュ時間(帯)
off-peak hours=ラッシュ以外の時間帯

go up the stairs =階段を上る
go down the stairs=階段を下る

one way ticket( single ticket )=片道切符
round trip ticket(return ticket)=往復切符

飛行機内で使う英会話

欧州内であればパスポートチェックがない場合もあるので、気軽に移動できますが、ちょっとした遠出なら飛行機の方が便利ですね。

チェックイン

■May I see your passport?
(パスポートを見せていただけますか?)

■Where is your final destination?
(最終目的地はどこですか?)

□Do I need to pick up my baggage?
(荷物を一度受け取りする必要がありますか?)
経由地がある場合に使う表現です。

■How many bags would you like to check in?
(チェックインの荷物は幾つですか?)
カウンターで荷物を預ける時に使う表現です。

□Only this.
(これだけです)

□I only have carry-on baggage.
(機内持ち込み荷物だけです)

□This is fragile.
(割れ物です)

割れ物=壊れやすい、は「breakable」でもOKです。ちなみに「割れ物注意」のシールは、「fragile sticker」です。

□Would you please put a fragile sticker on this bag?
(割れ物注意シールを貼っていただけますか?)

□Can I upgrade my seat?
(座席をアップグレードできますか?)

□We want seats next to each other.
(隣同士の席でお願いします)

□Can I take the window seat?
(窓側の席でお願いします)

□Can I take the aisle seat?
(通路側の席でお願いします)

□Can I have a seat close to the lavatory?
(お手洗い近くの席をお願いします)

飛行機内のお手洗いは、「toilet」でも意味は通じますが、「lavatory」の方が丁寧です。

飛行機内にて

□I’m getting a little bit cold. Can I have a blanket?
(少し寒くなってきました。ブランケットももらえますか?)

□Would you mind if I lean my seat back?
(席を後ろに倒してもいいですか?)

□Would you mind if you put your seat up a little bit?
(座席を少し戻してもらってもいいですか?)

→前方にいる席を後ろに大きく倒している人に対して使います。

□Do you have any Japanese newspaper?
(日本の新聞はありますか?)

■Would you like something to drink (eat)?
(何か飲み物(食べ物)はいかがですか?)

□What drinks do you have?
(どんな飲み物がありますか?)

□Is there a charge for liquor?
(お酒は有料ですか?)

□Can I have my meal later?
(食事は後で貰えますか?)

→指定時間がある場合は、「in」の後に数字を付けます。
「in about 20 minutes」や「in about an hour」のような感じです。

□I’m full so I’m good for now. Thank you for asking.
(お腹一杯なんで、今の所は結構です)

入国審査

■How long will you be staying in America?
(アメリカにはどのくらい滞在しますか?)

■How many days are you planning to stay in America?
(何日間アメリカに滞在しますか?)

(いつ日本に帰国しますか?)

(これが2回目です)

(何か申告するものを持ってますか?)

空港から目的地への移動

(シカゴ行きのバスはありますか?)

(シカゴにはどうやって行きますか?)
